Clad in colorful clothes, the movie's oddball protagonist breaks the fourth wall with striking unfunny discussions with you throughout. It's a shame that a movie that revolves around an aspiring writer has such unimaginative writing. It's a testament to the common notion that anyone can write.
Regrettably, not one track is amusing. The family is unnecessarily loud, life in Mumbai is drab and Nawaz tries to uplift the fair source material, but to no avail. The role isn't worth his mettle as an actor and you know he understands it as well.
Not a single comic punch is well worth remembering barring itself deprecating one where we're told Ghoomketu by default chooses writing over behaving. "Humare family mein hero banne layak confront kiskika nahi hai", says our hero's household with assurance.
The makers attempt to make a dream world of their author's dreams that parodies Bollywood cliches. To do that, you need smart writing. Here, you neither laugh in the story or with the story. You simply wait for it all to get over. The actors are sincere even in their short roles but you can not possibly expect them to salvage the situation.
The actor who truly stands out within this ensemble cast is Ila Arun. She adds some significance to this insipid insanity. The two Anurag Kashyap and Raghuvir Yadav keep crying for no purpose. You will find tales that need suspension of disbelief but this one expects one to forget what humor really is and that is pushing it a bit too much.
There is a line in the film which says,"Yeh comedy bohot katheen cheej hai, logon ko hasi bhi aani chahiye." Regrettably, the manufacturers forget that themselves.
