And perhaps even the scene in which Kajal realizes how nice a Prabhas person is when the later solves his family friend 's huge predicament. Moments such as these don't go futile and such incidents fill the film.
Of the star cast, it seems that Prabhas had a good time for the film while shooting. His body language is powerful particularly in the second half of the film, but in most of his scenes, he appears dazed. His style statement is worthy of notice, particularly the costumes and dances. Our roles are effective: Prabhu, Ahuti Prasad, Dharmavarapu Subramaniam, M S Narayana, Srinivas Reddy, Shraddha Das, and Mukesh Rishi.
Among them all, it's Kajal Agarwal 's film heroine that blinds so much with her exuberance that it's almost contagious! Take that scene where Kajal meets the music band of Prabhas in Switzerland where she is pleading for a chance to sing for them. In most of her scenes, Kajal is quite chirpy, and breezes through them with elan.
Heart tales is a concept that has been tried and tested. In 'Darling' Karunakaran doesn't really try to do anything new or try to interpret love from a new perspective. That might make the movie even more predictable. As far as the family drama is concerned, the second half of the film drags a bit and stays its welcome over.
The camerawork in the movie by Andrew is stunning. The songs and scenes shot in Switzerland have a very pleasant mix of colors like blue and green. Song by G V Prakash is perfect. The dialogs between Swamy's are sweet. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is decent. Action choreography by Peter Heins is very successful.
Besides the task of the direction of the film, Karunakaran also handled the plot and screenplay. Although the film has some clever twists and turns, the script should have been better to make it more entertaining particularly in the second half. Altogether, 'Darling' is a typical film by Karunakaran with a neat storyline laced with good comedy and family drama.
'Darling' is a fairly harmless game, in the way it does not hurt your intellect. It hardly takes itself seriously and works to a large extent on Karunakaran 's formula. It's the story of a jovial character who is smitten by a pretty girl; this couple's love story and a happy ending. This formula may have been done to death, but the fact that it works over and over again is still an enigma.
